Gray sets the ton for this dream room makeover for Carol Donayre Bugg!

Part of the popularity of the color gray can be attributed to how well this gender-friendly tone goes with other fashionable hues; Pantone’s Marsala, Retro turquoise, Sweetcorn yellow and Sapphire red. The latter two are Color Marketing Group’s predictions for 2017 and beyond. From soft cloudy tints to grayish brown shades to deep charcoals, gray is today’s go-to uber-sophisticated neutral.

Bright Transitional

A bright, sleek, transitional, easy to care for, yet comfortable look for their condo was how the fun-loving owners envisioned their  weekend waterfront getaway. The decorator had to specify furniture for the small living room that would satisfy a multitude of functions.

A vibrant abstract oil canvas that subtly conveyed the feeling of the ocean became the focal point, and inspiration for the living room’s color and style.  By painting the walls a soft silvery gray the decorator provided a calming backdrop for each of the multi-purpose pieces of furniture.  The coffee table stools double as ottomans or extra seating. An easy care glass top table is perfect for a light breakfast or a game of cards, and the padded arm chairs provide additional seating for guests.  The chaise lends itself to TV watching, napping, or accommodating an occasional overnight guest. Contemporary table and floor lamps with three-way bulbs provide task or ambient lighting as needed. A charming patterned fabric that follows the colors of the oil painting graces the windows, throw pillows, and ottoman cushions.  The coordinating indoor/outdoor carpet is both beautiful and durable, and meets the condo coverage regulations, yet allows the new bamboo floors to be seen.
